When it comes to diversity and Shiraz, we’re pretty lucky here in South Australia. From big and bold to tight and detailed, we’ve got the lot. Adelaide Hills Shaw + Smith provide us with a great example of the latter with their 2018 offering. It shows a core of pure, plummy fruit with hints of violets, Asian spice and scattered herbs. With great tension on the palate, the balance between fruit density and acidity is spot on, with fine tannin adding structure and shape. Super drinkable now and will cellar well for those with patience.
