The Freak has done it again! Riesling maestro, John Hughes, has taken one of our favourite grape varieties and given it a fortified makeover and it’s a beauty. Made in a ‘White Port’ style, it’s a deeply coloured, unctuous riff on the grape with rich, inviting characters of macerated sultanas, citrus peel, marmaldey-dried-fruity notes and a touch of crème brûlée. Long and luscious, it’s damn fine drinking with dessert or when you need a lift.
