No. 1 is deserving of its name. Winemaker, John Hughes hand-picked the four best rows of his parents’ vineyard in the Clare Valley during the near perfect conditions of the 2017 vintage. The fruit was then whole-bunch pressed and fermented spontaneously in his personally commissioned fancy French barrel and spent 20 months maturing before bottle - resulting in a rich, textural and savoury wine and we would say, one of the top rieslings ever made in this country.
